Game Over Online September 23, 2020
WWE 2K Battlegrounds is definitely not the perfect arcade-style WWE experience, but it’s a far better game than I expected going in with minimal bugs and issues. As a workprint for the future, it’s rock-solid and can easily lead to the Battlegrounds games being a great breather between simulation-based entries in the series going forward. Hopefully we’ll see things like customizable movesets be added into future installments – but as it stands, this is a great way to enjoy some pick up and play WWE action on any gaming platform you have.

WWE 2K BG isn’t going to provide you the depth that the traditional, more sim-related version aims to deliver. However, for what it is, which is an arcade, over-the-top, dump-your-rules, beat-em up, it hits on all the major points. The game is fun, deeper than you might expect and offers a very good bang for your 40 bucks.

WWE 2K Battleground is a fun take on wrestling after the messy WWE 2K20, but microtransactions felt absolutely unnecessary.

WWE 2K Battleground is an interesting change of course, an arcade that's far from perfect, but is by far the most entertaining title that WWE has left in the recent years. It's fantastic for short sessions, with tons of unlockables (even with microtransactions), but it can be repetitive soon and some ideas are far from the right spot.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is the best WWE game in a long time. Its over-the-top combat leans heavily on cartoon violence, so if you’re looking for a wrestling sim, you won’t find that here. What you will get, though, is a fun, fast-paced, and lighthearted wrestling game.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a fun arcade wrestling game, far different than the sim we know and love (or hate). Its got tons of different modes, arenas and wrestlers to choose from, each with his own special abilities and signature moves. Some moves are missing, its got a lot of bugs and the micro-transaction ruin your progression, but it doesn't change the fact that this game is fun, and it doesn't need to be anything else.

While it is reliant on grinding and lacks the sort of customisation that the simulation fans crave, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is the most entertaining WWE games in years.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds isn’t a bad game, especially coming out in such a disappointing time, but it may have done better on the mobile market and won’t scratch the itch for every fan. With some tweaks, however, Battlegrounds could be seen as an entertaining, above mediocre distraction, with a goofy look, remembered as the less offensive alternative.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is fun and attractive for wrestling and WWE fans, crazy and entertaining. However, the combat still feels imprecise and the number of game modes is insufficient, with a character unlock system that is too similar of a free to play.

Battlegrounds is a fun little game for WWE fans. It lacks the depth of other brawlers, although if you like the competition it is based on we think you’ll enjoy it.

WWE 2K Battlgrounds is going to divide a lot of people with its pay to play mentality, but there are plenty of ways to earn it. With modes like the enjoyable King of the Battleground and its Campaign, you are never short of opportunities to experience the over-the-top gameplay.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a welcome spin-off for the franchise, giving it the extravagant, over-the-top, enjoyable gameplay that captures and magnifies the WWE’s best aspects.

WWE Battlegrounds is an excellent idea lost inside way too much repetitiveness. 2K wrestling games needed a fresh new style and approach, but Saber’s game got lost due to an oversimplified fighting system and an excessive use of microtransactions. You need hours to unlock everything, but your wrestling enthusiasm is doomed to expire after the first 2-3 hours of playing WWE Battlegrounds, just when you’re gonna realize its best moments are already gone. Too bad, because I feel the need of a good old arcade wrestling game, but I also would have liked it to focus on entertaining me and not try to strip me of all my money for a useless Undertaker skin.

Easy on the eyes and ears and fun to play, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a simplified title that mainly works. Its horrific paywall system, however, immediately kills much of its good will.

Smashing somebody! That's what i am here for. WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a cute and wild game, but has some problems that could be solved.

A fun arcade take on the WWE world that is plagued by repetitive gameplay and way too many microtransactions.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is not a bad game but we believe that its true potential has not been exploited in the least.

TrueGaming September 24, 2020
WWE 2K Battlegrounds is more focused on casual players who look for a fun, simple multiplayer experience. However, the game lacks value in its content, not to mention its tendency to drive you to pay to unlock characters.

Critical Hit September 25, 2020
WWE 2K Battlegrounds feels like a missed opportunity at the best of times. What could have been a mad breath of fresh air until WWE 2K22 comes along, is instead a boring grind that’s all style and no real substance. Invasive microtransactions tarnish the few remaining bright spots of this game, barely allowing it be okayfabe.

Despite some serious drawbacks, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is the first exciting game licensed by WWE in over a decade.
