AMD's new Ryzen CPUs are up to $50 less expensive than the old 7000 Series were at launch

It's official. AMD has announced the price of its new Zen 5-based Ryzen 8000 CPUs. They're cheaper than the Ryzen 7000 series.

They're actually cheaper than the launch price for Ryzen 7000 two years ago. The launch prices for 2022 are no longer applicable to most Ryzen 7000 models.

You'll pay more, model by model, for a new Ryzen 9000 processor than its Ryzen 7000 predecessor. This is good news in a world of GPU prices that seem to increase exponentially with each new generation.

The new chips will be priced between $20 and $50 less than the original Ryzen 7000 Series prices. It's inevitable that the higher-end chips will get the biggest discounts.

As we have already mentioned, the current price for Ryzen 7000 has dropped since its launch. You can expect to pay around $200 for a Ryzen 7000 model.

The new chips are a lot more expensive than the current pricing of the 7000-series. The price of Ryzen 9000 will probably fall over time, so the trend is in the right place.

AMD's latest CPU designs aren't going to take long to reveal what you can expect to get for your money. Watch out for our full review of the new chips.

Highlights include the Zen 5 architecture, which has a 16% increase in IPC (instructions processed per clock cycle). The core counts are the same but clock speeds have been slightly increased for some models.

These new chips won't be a performance revolution, but they will be noticeably faster. AMD claims performance gains of up to 23% based on some metrics. We'll have to wait for our upcoming reviews to decide. Watch this space.
