Arcane's co-creator believes Viktor and Jayce’s storyline is unresolved to a certain extent, but that they weren't 'given time' to explore it.

Arcane's 2nd season is over, and that means the end of the series. Riot has hinted at the possibility of more seasons of stunning animated content with Fortiche. The current debate revolves around whether or not the season was rushed, or if certain scene were cut to save time.

Christian Linke says that he believes Fortiche's storytelling is so dense that it sticks in your teeth. However, he also hints that some words were left out or cut to save time. This is what he said in Arcane's Afterglow series, which featured himself and fellow creator Alex Yee as well as actors Hailee Steinfeld (Vi), Ella Purnell(Jinx), Reed Shannon(Ekko). Season 2 spoilers ahead.

As a recap, Jayce convinced his science-lover Viktor that his brilliant evolution was going overboard. The two then vanished into the ether. Linke reveals that they are unlikely to return: "I'd say that they have unfortunately dissolved."

Linke also would have loved to explore more of their relationship, saying "to me, the Jayce/Viktor end--to a degree, it feels unresolved because, even though they come to an understanding in the end, I always feel that more should be said and they should experience together. But we're never given the time."

This might cause alarm in your mind, but I don't believe that this means Linke and Yee have been cut off from telling the story they wanted. The advice to "kill your darlings" was given for a good reason. Not every story requires every idea that you have, nor can every idea be incorporated into the story. Linke may be speaking out of writer's frustration, even if the story needed to be trimmed.

A recent interview with Techradar did raise a few eyebrows on my part. Linke says that in response to critics of the first season, "there was a certain pace and a certain way we did things... we wanted things to be done a little different in season two." So, yeah, i understand that, i respect that, & i want to learn from it." It's a very curious question.

It seems that fans aren't as concerned about Jinx's life as they thought. Purnell, when asked if Jinx survived, adopts a terrible poker face and says "um, don't know". She then hides behind a question card. Yeah, I believe she made it. I'm looking forward to seeing her again, regardless of whether it's a cameo or a longer role in what Fortiche has planned next.
