Lighting is crucial. Over the past seven-years of trying to make my product photos look better for reviews, I've learned the hard way that lighting is important. I think I finally mastered the basics (I am still learning) when I realized I needed two lights and some sort of diffuser.

I have found a great deal on a pair key lights that I almostbought just a few months ago. These are Neewer's Video Light Panel 2-Pack NL-192AI, which is currently at the lowest price in my records.

This is for a set of two lights with power plugs, stands and a carry case. This kit has everything you need to properly light up a video or stream.

can use one light as its mainlight. This is the brightest panel, aimed at whatever you're shooting. You can use the second panel, which is brighter, to remove some of the shadows and give your subject a more even glow.

You may want to add a diffuser to your product photography. I'll explain all this shortly.

Anyways, I understand what you're thinking. Almostbuying a product isn't a high praise. I borrowed a pair Elgato keylights that my partner was using for streaming, and I saved money on new lights.

Elgato Key Light Air is on sale for $91, which is not much less than its normal price. The larger Key Light can be purchased for $130 as part of a Black Friday deal. However, this is not much cheaper than its usual price. Our pick for the best light on the market, the Elgato Key Light Neo is still $90.

The Key Light Air would be the best choice of the three Elgato units. However, when you can buy two key lights at a lower price than Elgato’s one keylight, the Neewer makes a good pick. This is especially true if all you need is a simple, straightforward lighting solution that offers a lot of flexibility. That's what Neewer provides.

The Neewer lamps. The temperature can be adjusted between 3200K and 5600K, so they are mostly warmer. This means more yellowish tones. 5600K is the color temperature I use for most of my lights. While the brighter whites and blues are absent, they're still good for product photography and streaming.

Above: Here are my latest results with two key lights, a diffuser and a diffuser setup. I think we're getting there.

The brightness is adequate at 2,400 Lux. This is equivalent to one lumen per square foot. Sincerity be damned, I don't know how accurate this rating is. But they should be bright enough in any case. Many customer reviews suggest that they are bright enough.

The battery pack that comes with both Neewer panels is one of the features I wish I could have. This battery pack is good for about 1.5 hours, depending on the brightness you choose. If you need to use it for longer, there are power plugs provided.

This set of keylights is pretty cool, especially when you add the storage bag.

I also mentioned earlier that I would recommend some kind of diffusion solution for this setup. This is mainly because I find that I get the best product photography results when I block out the direct lighting from the key light. Key lights are a little more diffused than a standard direct light source but not enough to eliminate all glare.

The term Diffusion Solution makes it sound more expensive than it actually is. I'm talking about a cheap stand and a fabric pop-up diffuser like this one, which costs $31.

You can get the same product cheaper elsewhere. I bought mine from Aliexpress, but you could also find it cheaper elsewhere.

If you're looking for something different, I've compiled all of our lighting reviews into a guide on the best desk lighting. It includes key lights as well as RGB lightstrips, wall lights and other variations. All of which have been tested here.
