Best Buy now offers Ayaneo portable gaming PCs in the US just in time for Labor Day

It took a while, but Ayaneo's handheld gaming PCs are now available in the US through a local retailer. This eliminates the need to import. Best Buy is the retailer in question, but it currently only offers two of Ayaneo’s vast portfolio of PCs.

Ayaneo is a name that you've probably heard even if you have only a passing interest. Ayaneo is a Chinese manufacturer that has been in business for only four years. However, its range of gaming PCs, including handheld, mini and retro models, has captured the market.

Ayaneo Air 1S is a great product. It's small size makes it a true PC-in-your pocket. It's hard to believe there's a Ryzen7 7840U inside the tiny package, but Ayaneo is really good at using AMD's APUs to power all sorts of different form factors.

Take the Ayaneo Retro Mini AM02 for example. It looks like a Nintendo Entertainment System, but it is a full-blown computer with up to 1 TB SSD storage and 64 GB RAM.

If you live in the US, it was a bit difficult to get your hands on one, as none of your usual tech retailers carried them. The only way to get one was to find someone who would import them. Finally, some good news that coincides with Labor Day.

Best Buy has Ayaneo gaming handheld PCs in stock. The selection is small, however: the Kun and Next Lite. Ayaneo Kun was reviewed earlier this year, and we found it to be the ultimate handheld PC gaming device. Unfortunately, the review sample we received had too many quirks for its $999 price tag. It's still a great product, but it's not up to par with the OLED Steam Deck or Asus ROG Ally X.

The Next Lite is the other Ayaneo from Best Buy. It's a handheld with a 7-inch 800p screen, and an old Ryzen 7 processor based on Zen 2. This is fine for basic games or anything that does not require a lot of modern 3D graphics. But you won't be able to play Baldur's gate 3 on this device.

Best Buy should be able to get other models, like the Air 1S or 2S. Or maybe even the new Snapdragon powered Pocket Evo. Ayaneo's success in just a few years has led me to believe that other US retailers are likely to follow suit.
