My favorite mouse is the Logitech G502 Hero, which replaced the MX518. My favorite mouse that replaces the MX518 was also a Logitech - the G502 Hero. If you're looking to buy a new mouse for Black Friday, you can get one from Amazon for only $34.99 - less than half of the regular price.

The Logitech Hero G502 is equipped with a 25,600 DPI and 1,000 Hz polling rates, which means that it has a high level of precision and accuracy. It has 11 buttons which I find a bit excessive. I only use four and that includes the mouse wheel. But I suppose having more is never a bad thing. They are all programmable with onboard memory storing five unique profiles.

Do you like light? The G502 Hero is packed with lights. It's a lot of lights. They can be programmed in different shades and patterns using Logitech G-Hub. The Cycle effect is on mine. It gives me the RGB cool feel without being distracting. If you have other light-up Logitech equipment connected to your PC, it's possible to sync them all together for a big and smooth flow.

It's an impressive unit, and I have no complaints about the tech. But what makes the G502 so great is the way it feels. It's just the right size for all users: not too big to be unwieldy but not too small either. It's not super-light, but it's not unpleasantly heavy, and that can also be adjusted with removable internal weights.

The thumb indent... well, that's just a great place to put your finger. It might sound silly to you, but it's a great way to recreate the contours of the MX518, a device that I liked. The thumb button is too far to reach without moving my entire hand. If it were pulled back just a half inch, I could use five buttons on this device.

This is the G502 Hero and not the wireless Lightspeed, which is on sale at Best Buy but costs twice as much. If you want a wireless mouse this is a great deal. But if, like me, you believe that certain things are meant to be wired, the G502 Hero at $35 is the best option.
