Blizzard is bringing Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred a little bit of WoW with a new coop dungeon, and a party finder.

Diablo 4: Vessel Of Hatred is starting look like a budding MMO - or something closer to Destiny 2 - with the Dark Citadel. This is an endgame co-op four-player dungeon that offers weekly rewards.

The Dark Citadel was announced during an Xbox stream on Gamescom. It is a multipart dungeon that requires at least two players in order to complete. In the developer insight video, we saw characters taking turns opening doors and reflecting attacks at a boss. You'll also be able, just like in World of Warcraft to mark your enemies with symbols so that you can coordinate with your team.

You'll receive a bounty of loot in classic MMO fashion for completing the Dark Citadel each week. Each boss will drop class-specific loot and a currency that you can use to purchase cosmetics and consumables for your allies. If you ask me, this all sounds like Diablo 4’s version of WoW’s raid tier set and craftable potions.

Blizzard has also added a party finder system so you don't have to waste time searching for teammates on random Discord servers. You won't be matched with players automatically, but you can search for groups that are looking to do certain activities, such as dungeons and bosses. Or you can create your own listing. Diablo 4 players have been begging for this feature to enjoy the benefits of playing with a group.

I'm surprised that it took an entire expansion for Diablo 4's MMO to begin approaching the line between action RPG and MMO. But I'm all for it. It's much easier to play in a group for certain endgame challenges, and using a party finder is a lot more convenient than trying to get people together outside of the game. Solo players may find themselves at an even greater disadvantage, so I wonder if Blizzard plans to introduce a solo-only game mode in the future.

Diablo 4: Vessel Of Hatred will introduce mercenary characters to the game, as well as a timed dungeon that offers a lot of rewards. Blizzard will discuss a major overhaul of the leveling system (today's clip suggests that level 60 will be a new cap) on a live stream next Thursday.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred launches on October 8.
