Carry weight is unlimited Nerfing Bloodsuckers The first mods for Stalker 2 are here and they ruin everything
I don't like to tell people they're playing the game wrong. You won't find me yucking anything. You do you, man. Want to turn your Sims into a crime-house? Great. Want to talk to monsters in Doom? I want to talk to the monsters in Doom. Want to make Skyrim the perfect recreation of one of the most destructive conflicts in human history? I urge you to take the plunge.
The first mods for Stalker 2 have already started to arrive, and I am beginning to wonder if people are getting the point.
Take Unlimited Carry Weight, for example. You know what it does: it removes Stalker 2’s carry limits so you can haul as much loot around The Zone as you want. My response? What's the point of Stalker if you can't choose between two beautiful, precious armor sets like you would choose which child you will never see again? What is Stalker, if you're not slouching toward the nearest vendor - who may be several kilometers away - loaded down with guns, bullets, and sausages as you refuse to let loot waste?
What's the point of Stalker if there is no suffering? You might think I am joking and I am, but I do believe that removing friction from Stalker would be like painting over the Mona Lisa. You have to adopt an Orthodox mentality about these things. Stalker is about navigating a world hostile to your survival, even when it doesn't really care. It's all about achieving your greatness and not being handed it by game mechanics who bow to the player character. It's about enduring a difficult time because you think it's worth it for the rewards you'll receive later. It's all about making hard decisions, and then modding them? You might as well play Skyrim.
Ahem. Sorry, I got carried way. Install whatever mods you want, but mods like removing encumbrance limitations and mods which make Bloodsuckers or Poltergeists pushovers, by dividing their HP in half, defang The Zone. And The Zone should have fans. They should be really big. You can actually get hurt by them.
The majority of mods are aimed at optimising the performance of the game. The most popular mod is called "Stalker Optimizer" and, while Stalker fans may joke about the jank as part of the experience in Stalker 2, I would prefer that the game not be as stuttery and crash-prone right now.
