Deadlock's newest hero, who can unleash "a wave of spectral spiders" on enemies, is the perfect candidate to introduce an arachnophobia mode.

Loads of new heroes have been introduced to Deadlock's Hero Labs over the last few weeks, including Slork, Holliday, and Viper, but the most recent addition could be the game's most controversial--because his entire kit revolves around creepy crawlies that people aren't typically that fond of.

Trapper, a new hero in the Hero Labs, has a similar kit to heroes such as Viscous and Kelvin. It's primarily used to heal allies and stun enemies. Trapper's first ability Bottled Phantasmicide leaves a poisonous pool on the ground when thrown. This can slow down enemies and damage them over time if they walk in it. Silktrap is his next ability. It also restricts player's movements by creating a web between two surfaces. If an enemy walks through it, they will be slowed down and suffer damage. The third ability, Pest Barrier, provides teammates with +200 spirit shield health.

Deadlock already has a lot of crowd control, and nearly every hero can stun, trap, or slow down enemies. Grey Talon, for example, can use an immobiliser to slow down and confine opponents, while Seven's ability Static Charge can stun them for 0.9 seconds. Trapper's two crowd-controlling abilities aren't uncommon, especially since MOBAs include a lot more crowd control.

Trapper's ultimate power is much more terrifying and interesting. Crawling Plague allows him to unleash "a wave spectral spiders" that chase and explode on enemies, ultimately causing spirit damage. I find Deadlock chaotic enough, but the thought of being chased around the map by a swarm of spiders is not appealing. Deadlock currently does not have an arachnophobia option, which will likely be added after this update.

Arachnophobia settings in videogames are on the rise. They'll appear anywhere a spider appears. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 recently introduced an arachnophobia mode for Zombies. The giant undead zombie spiders were reduced to floating chunks of flesh. Other games have come up with more creative solutions to this phobia, like Lethal Company which replaces spiders with the word spider.

The Deadlock update, which was released recently, introduced a number of new features and improvements. Yoshi, one of the developers, says that there are many hero reworks and some weapon and item fixes. There are also new private lobbies and Hero Labs. When you return to the store, you'll automatically purchase the items that you can afford according to your set order.

You can try out the new hero and other changes in the Hero Labs. Just be nice to your enemies or teammates that dislike spiders.
