Demonschool, a Persona-like tactical role-playing game about battling demons and getting an education, will be delayed until 2025 to allow developers to add'more liveliness and life' to the world of the game.

Since the PC Gaming Show 2022, many PC Gamer fans have been anticipating Demonschool. Rich Stanton called it "one to keep a distant eye on", Robin Valentine said that it has the potential of delivering "the most exciting turn-based battles of 2024", and Harvey Randall predicted it could be "another Into the Breach". This is a lot of excitement! It's a real pain to have to tell them and you that the game will be delayed until early 2025.

Necrosoft Games, the developer, said that they had planned to release the game on Friday the 13th, September. "But given the past few years and the amount of work we put into the game, we needed to delay the release to make sure we could deliver the game to you."

Necrosoft said that players would not have noticed any differences if Demonschool launched as planned in September. "But delaying allowed us to add more liveliness and life to the world so it's a more social game, aside from smashing up demons, of course."

This will include:

  • Adding a quiz section. We've been asked by many people at events such as PAX to add more school-related aspects. So, you now have to take strange tests at the end each week!
  • Addition of minigames. I won't give away any details.
  • Add more relationship stuff. I won't spoil it for now.
  • Cleaning up the UI to make it even cleaner and clearer.
  • Add Spanish(!) localization. We chose LATAM Spanish as we believe it best fits the text. We wanted to reward the Spanish-speaking fans who have shown a great interest in the game.
  • The most important thing is to finish and fine-tune all the little sprite interaction during character dialog. This is the part that takes the longest, and we would have had to reduce if we released on September 13, but these are really important. You may have noticed that the rival character Kestrel was listening in on our team's conversation before she dropped some crucial information if you played the demo. This small detail isn't crucial to the story, but it's a great way to build the world. It would have been a shame to lose it.
  • There are many other things that you will never know but feel in your bones when you play this game.

The studio will also launch a bi-weekly developer blog to keep everyone up-to-date. The first entry can be found here. There is also a Tiktok edition if you prefer that.

"Thank you for understanding," Necrosoft wrote. "We don't wish to appeal to anyone's sympathy, but it's been a tough year for everyone, not just the team, but also each individual member. We hope to make a fun game that you will all enjoy. Please continue to support us.
