Demons are able to be anything they choose, it seems. The next season of Diablo 4 begins on October 7. A massive creature named the Realmwalker, with a portal leading to hell on its back, will stomp through Sanctuary. You will be sent into a dungeon that has more portals, and seasonal potions for you to fill your inventory.
Season of Hatred Rising is Diablo 4's 6th season, which will launch alongside the Vessel of Hatred expansion. It has a pretty simple premise: hunt the big portal demons and step into the portal to kill monsters. The big guys will appear in the open world for everyone every 15 minutes, but in the exclusive jungle region Nahantu they'll appear every hour.
The other side of the portal will take you into a Seething Realm with a realm portal (read: a different shaped portal). You can then spend materials to select the kind of seasonal potion that you want to discover at the end. These potions, called Seething Opals, increase the chance that monsters will drop certain items, such as boss summoning materials and crafting materials for 30 minutes. You'll also get a 15% boost in XP, so it's worth keeping one active at all times.
As with every Diablo 4 season before, you will find a series quests that teach you the basics of the game, and a number of rewards for gaining reputation with the Zakarum Remnants, the faction associated with this season. The catch is you need to have a potion buff on to earn reputation when you kill monsters. So everyone will be hunting down that portal demon.
Diablo 4 has undergone a series of major changes that will fundamentally change the way you play. These include:
- The new maximum level is 60, which will shorten your journey to the endgame. (XP will be rewarded to you afterward as paragon points)
- New difficulty levels increase your chances of finding rare loot
- All stats are squished to make them more legible
- New items with legendary powers
- There are a lot of class balance changes
You can access all of this, whether or not you own Vessel of Hatred. Owners of the expansion will also get a new campaign as well as the spiritborn class, the runes and the runewords. They will also be able to access the Kurast underground city dungeon.
The Season of Hatred Rising expansion will be released on October 7, for North and South America, and October 8, for everyone else.
