Diablo 4's upcoming witchcraft seasons will feature exploding frogs, allowing you to summon an army of these little poisonous guys
Diablo 4's upcoming witchcraft season, where you can summon an army of frogs, might change that. They can be quite messy, smacking their enemies with their poisonous tongues before exploding in a green mist. Skeletons couldn't, which is why everyone, including necromancers, will be clamoring for the ultimate frogmancer.
Blizzard's recent stream spent a small amount of time discussing the new witchcraft powers that will be available in season 7 starting in January. The exploding-frog spell is one of many you can find throughout the season and upgrade, similar to season 2's vampire powers. The Headrotten are a new enemy type that has invaded Diablo 4’s open world. Slaying them will help you fill your spellbook.
The focus of the new season will be on the existing Grim Favors System, which sends players out into the world for short objectives in exchange for loot. Headrotten will take over various regions for you to hunt and earn a currency that can be spent at an expanded settlement located at the base of Tree of Whispers. This is something players have been wanting for a long time. Blizzard claims that season 7 is an experiment to see how the Grim Favors might look in the future.
There are many other spells besides the exploding-frogs.
- A fiery orb that circles around you and ignites your enemies
- Spirits that dart about and protect you from damage
- A magical cyclone that absorbs monsters and deals heavy damage
- A cauldron full of fiery bats that will stun your enemies

The blog post contains a longer list. Each spell has a bonus effect when it reaches its maximum level. These bonuses are designed to be a general benefit that anyone can use, such as a flat increase in damage or an extra movement speed. Blizzard will reveal more details closer to the launch, but the interface for managing your powers is similar to that of season 3's robot companion. Spells are tagged like skills, and they have synergies when combining them.
These new powers will appear in the public test realm version, which will run on Battle.net from December 3 to 10. As always, there are a lot of balance changes. These include much-needed nerfs for spiritborn, unique items that define builds, and The Armory, a system to quickly swap your gear and build within towns.
Diablo 4's new season, which hasn't been given an official name as of yet, will begin on 21 January.
