Dr Disrespect predicts that he will return to Deadrop developer Midnight Society. 'That's Two Time's Studio'
Guy Beahm (better known as Dr Disrespect), the streamer fired by Midnight Society for sending "inappropriate messages" to a minor three months ago, has said that it is still his studio, and predicts that he will return sooner or later.
I found it odd that links to Midnight Society remained on Beahm's X and Instagram profiles when he returned to streaming this month. I thought it was an error, a little housecleaning that had been left undone. But as the weeks and days passed, the links continued to remain.
We now know why: Beahm won't go away quietly. He made it clear that he was serious about his streaming career, when he returned on YouTube to rant for 20 minutes against his Twitch suspension and claimed that the ban was the result of a conspiracy. It turns out that he feels the same way about his role in Midnight Society.
Beahm, a two-time NBA Jam champion, said in a stream (via Dexerto) that "That's Two Time's Studio." "That's Two Time's Game. That's my idea for a video game. Eric [presumably concept artists Eric Hallquist] & I concepted the original concept many years ago. You guys remember it. We talked about it. We created the studio together with a few others, and we grew the group.
"Yeah it's still there in my bio and I've got a feeling that if you give it some time, we will be back on track. Give it some time, champs. We'll be back in the game. "No problem.
It's an ambitious statement, but it is not without foundation. Deadrop was known as "Dr Disrespect’s game" from the beginning and he was a very prominent public face for the game and studio until his dismissal in June. After the split, questions were raised about the future of Midnight Society without Beahm. Major layoffs a few months after that didn't help either.
It's unlikely that Beahm was the reason for the cuts. The videogame industry has been decimated in the past two years as the Covid-19 quarantine has given way to a return to reality, which executives at game companies were unable to predict. But his removal caused a vocal backlash among early supporters and players, who were involved primarily or exclusively because of Beahm.
Midnight Society has shared a new gameplay video showcasing the current state of the game. They also posted a Q&A thread that touched on a variety of topics, including specific gameplay elements and rewards, as well future plans.
I've contacted Midnight Society to ask for a comment on Beahm’s prediction of a comeback. I will update this post if I get a response.
