Space Marine 2’s latest patch brings ultra-wide support, private coop lobbys, and battle partners who are actually useful.
Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2, a story about a boy, his friends and their shared love of entomology finally supports ultrawide displays. It took a good month. There's also a new Sparring Arena on the Battle Barge, where players can "compete in friendly PvP" with other players in their squad. Customization menu now includes an option that allows players to reset their armor and color presets back to default settings.
There are also some major changes under the hood. The Veteran difficulty level's aggressiveness has been lowered to "improve the singleplayer experience." Player health has also "slightly" been reduced as a partial compensation. The bots have been tweaked to be "more effective and helpful," but they will still not carry you through to the end of a mission. Chaos enemy spawns have been drastically nerfed in Operations mode: the maximum number Tzaangors with Shields on the arena has been reduced from ten to four. The maximum number Cultist snipers has also been reduced from ten to three. The accuracy of ranged enemy attacks from off-screen was also reduced, which should reduce nasty surprises.
It's probably justified to nerf the Veteran difficulty, however minor it may sound. PC Gamer Ultramarine, Morgan Park, urged co-op teams to bump Space Marine 2’s difficulty from Normal to Veteran in order to make it more interesting. He described this as a “massive leap” over the standard level of difficulty that left his space marines struggling not to get butchered. It sounds like a single person playing with two less-than-helpful robots would have a hard time. (Though it sounds like Henry Cavill did it, so perhaps it's a matter of skill. Sorry, Morgan.)

New Features
- The Hub Sparring Arena is a new arena on the Battlebarge that is available in the Operations & Eternal War Game Mode where players can compete with their squad in friendly PvP.

Balance and gameplay tweaks
- The marking tool has been updated. - Improved responsiveness of the Social Wheel with a mouse.
- Disabled unnecessary items that did not need to be highlighted and worked poorly.
- Several minor bug fixes - Powerfist: Damage for fully charged attacks is greatly increased
- Heavy plasma:Base ammunition increased by 5. Blast damage radious has increased. Owerheat per shot has decreased dramatically from 50 to 30, for charged shots, and from 20 to 15, for base shooting. Base damage increased by 10%.
- Med Stimsrestore contested physical health in addition actual healing
- Ammo for the grenade launcher can now only be refilled with the Ammo Boxes. It can no longer be refilled by the infinite Ammo Cache.
Campaigns to Promote Your Business
- Difficulty:
- Reduced enemy aggression on Veteran Difficulty for a better singleplayer experience.
- The player's health is slightly reduced on Veteran Difficulty Campaign to compensate for AI aggression and armor management updates
- Bots:
- The bots can now be more effective and helpful, but still not beat the game.
- Bots now assist zoanthropes in firing their focus-firing weapons when the player attacks.
- To reduce annoyance, we have greatly loosened restrictions on bots completing enemies.
- Gargoyle now allows bots to assist with Gargoyle goals
- Fixed various bugs relating to bots becoming stuck
- Fixed a problem where bots could run out of ammunition on weapons without magazines
Operation Mode
- Changed AI Director and spawning rules for Chaos enemies in Operation mode:
- Maximum number of Tzaangors with Shield on the Arena at the Same Time reduced from 10 down to 4.
- Maximum number of Cultists snipers on the arena at once reduced from 10 down to 3.
- Maximum number of Tzaangors in the arena at once reduced from 30 down to 20
- Maximum number of Rubric Marines equipped with Boltguns in the arena reduced from 8 down to 5.
- Maximum number of Rubric Marines and Warpflamers in the arena reduced from 4 down to 3. - Perfect Parry has been updated. now restores armour to kill minoris, and not only for countering special attacks.
- in the perfect parry window of fencing weapons has been fixed. It now has a 20 frame window for perfect parry, and 10 frames of vulnerability towards the end of animation. Originally it had 30 frames for perfect parry.
- Assault class: Base damage to groundpounds increased by 30%
- Armor boost Drops from destructible crates have been reduced (cooldown increased from 30 seconds to 60 seconds).
PvP
- Improved player's spawn system. This should make spawn-killing more difficult.
- Reworked Vanguard Grapnel Launcher for PVP. Instead full stun, it will now slow enemy down dramatically.

- Flashborer Spray Attack Damage reduced from 0.3 % to 0.1 % - Tyranid Warrior and Devourer:Projectile Damage reduced from 0.9 per projectile to 0.6 per Projectile

- Icon of fire damage reduced from 9 down to 6.
- Flamer burst damages reduced from 6 per shot to 4 per shot

- Fixed a bug in which the Tactical Perk EMPEROR’S VENGEANCE didn't work with Plasma Incinerator.
- Fixed a bug in which some weapons restored more health than the actual contested health. Meltas, AoE weapons etc)
- Fixes for several issues that caused saves to be lost
- Fix an unidentified character voice at the end of a story that was incorrectly assigned.
