Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not have an arachnophobia setting because it won't contain any spiders
Thedas has just been declared a spider-free zone. Other games have arachnophobia mode that replaces spiders by alternative enemies. World of Warcraft replaces them with crabs. Grounded gradually de-spiderizes offending models, until they are eventually just floating ball with eyes. And Lethal Company replaces spiders simply with the word "SPIDER." Dragon Age: The Veilguard offers a more elegant way to deal with spider fear than other games.
Veilguard will not have an arachnophobia setting, as Veilguard will simply have no spiders. We call this efficiency in the business.
BioWare's community manager blackhairvioleteyes confirmed the future of Dragon Age as one without spiders (via The Gamer). Redditors noted in a thread about a recent Dragon Age Veilguard blog post that covered its accessibility options that the blog did not mention any arachnophobia filters. To clarify the omission blackhairvioleteyes stated that Veilguard "has no arachnophobia filter because there are no spiders!"
In my book, I am not cursed with arachnophobia. The less I have to fight spiders the better. You can get a bespoke horror like Lala Barina, which we will be fighting in Monster Hunter Wilds. But most developers don't have the resources or time to add new and exciting dimensions to spider combat.
You know what to expect when you enter one of the many Spider Caves found in videogames. You're going get poisoned. You'll get caught in webs. You'll have to avoid stepping on egg clusters, which will hatch spiderlings. Spiders are the source of all videogame frustrations. They are the antithesis to delight, and any game that doesn't require us to fight them is a blessing.
Veilguard is happy to offer this gift.
