Dragon Age: Veilguard release date leaked, to be launched on Halloween

The release date of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has leaked ahead of time. The long-awaited RPG is reportedly set to be released on October 31.

EA and BioWare had planned to announce the game's release date later today. However, the date was revealed in advance by a trailer uploaded to Streamable, which was spotted by Wario64, an eagle eyed Twitter account.

The Veilguard's launch date was supposed to be a first step in the game's well-planned roadmap, but it has instead become the latest stumble in a marketing road that has been difficult for BioWare fantasy RPG. The reveal trailer for the game was released in June to a mixed reception. It introduced characters as avatars of a hero-shooter. The gameplay reveal that followed helped calm things down a bit, but left some wondering about BioWare's direction for the series within a rapidly changing RPG landscape.

The marketing aspect of the game has also raised some eyebrows. BioWare has also made some strange comments about the series. For example, they claim that The Veilguard is the first game where "the combat is actually fun" and characters are "intentionally the focus of the story". Both of these statements seem to be a disservice towards the earlier games. BioWare has also made some positive statements, such as stating that the game will be mission-based rather than open world and that players will not be "gathering fragments in the Hinterlands". ".

The release date may have been leaked online, but the (now rather awkwardly named) reveal trailer for the date will still be available at 5pm BST/1pm EDT and should contain more information about the game than the stated launch time. BioWare also has other showcases planned for August. On Monday, BioWare will showcase the PC version and highlight the game's high level combat. (You can be sure we'll be watching it like a Dragon watches its hoard.) Then, on August 26, "Companions Week" will begin. On August 30, a developer Discord Q&A will take place. We hope that the rest of the road map runs smoothly and that BioWare's reveals give us a better picture of how this RPG will play.
