Fallout: London developers hope they've finally defeated the train crash bug by sharing a "living document" full of bug fixes

Since its release, Fallout: London has been plagued by crashes and video bugs. One of the worst culprits, the "train accident", occurred when players attempted to board London's Underground. Instead of a quick ride around the apocalyptic town, games would crash or freeze and even leave some characters with only half their HP. Team Folon has now finally created a guide to help players who are still experiencing these issues.

Farren Grey, developer at Team Folon says that crashing occurs when certain videos are played in the game. "In particular, the video that plays after the game's end and the train crash near its start. We have investigated this and created the following solution document."

According to Team Folon's solution document, players can fix video freezes and crashes by downloading DXVK. (A transition layer that converts Direct3D 11 API call to Vulkan API call). The solution document states that this helps Fallout 4 run with certain AMD drivers optimized for Vulkan.

Players who have been infected by the train should extract the.tar.gz (which is done natively on Windows 11 with WinRaR and 7zip), copy the d3d11.dII, and dxgi.dII into their Fallout 4 directory and make sure that their game launches in borderless mode. The next step in this solution document says "Profit?" If you have followed the steps carefully, then everything should be fixed. You'll also find information on troubleshooting, and how to use an ENB preset in conjunction with DXVK. It's worth reading through the entire document to ensure you don't miss anything.

Grey says, "This [solution] was tested internally and appears to work. However, feedback and testing by the community at large would be greatly appreciated." Please try it out and let us if it works or not. If it doesn't work, please let us know the details of your system and any other relevant information. This is a live document that will be updated as we identify edge-cases and further tweaks."

Team Folon had created a megathread of solutions during the peak of the August issues, but the new and improved solution is what players needed. Grey responded to a player who confirmed that the new solution worked: "I am so glad it works." We've been struggling for some time with this. This should mean that the "train crash" is finally defeated, and Fallout London players can enjoy the mod without having to worry about annoying crashes or freezes.
