First Image from New Silent Hill Movie Released

Silent Hill is getting another film adaptation in addition to its extensive game series. Variety has revealed the first image from the upcoming movie titled "Return to Silent Hill."

"Return to Silent Hill" is based on the original Silent Hill 2 game and will not be directly related to the 2006 and 2012 film adaptations. The film is directed by Christophe Gans, the director of the first Silent Hill movie, which has long been considered one of the best video game adaptations.

The lead actors have also been announced:
✅ James Sunderland will be played by Jeremy Irvine ("War Horse").
✅ Mary Shepherd-Sunderland will be played by Hannah Emily Anderson ("Jigsaw").

The official synopsis closely follows the plot of Silent Hill 2:

When a mysterious letter from Mary summons James back to Silent Hill, he finds the once-familiar town transformed by an unknown evil. As James desperately searches for Mary, he encounters terrifying creatures and begins to uncover the mystery of what happened to the town. As he delves deeper into the darkness, the secrets he uncovers lead to a horrifying truth. James struggles to find the strength to save his true love.

"Return to Silent Hill" is being showcased at the Cannes Film Festival. The release date for the film has not yet been announced.
