Both of these Yeyian gaming PCs are great deals. We've recommended Yeyian PC builds in the past because the builder seems to know that gamers don't onlywant a powerful all-round build for an affordable price.
On the other hand, we've got a solid RTX rig with an RTX 4060Ti that costs $1,000 (Newegg), a price that is usually reserved for PCs who make some sacrifices. For $99 more at $1,099, you can get a rig that has an RTX 4700.
It's a difficult choice. The Core i5 14040 in the 4060 Ti is essentially a re-vamp of the Core i5 13400 in the 4070 build. Both are on platforms that can be upgraded to a next generation Arrow Lake chip. However, both should be able to process game data quickly enough for an RTX RTX4060 Ti or RTX4070. You should install the latest microcode to avoid any instability issues.
The decision comes down to whether you want immediate gaming performance or long-term system longevity. The RTX 4060Ti Tanto has 32 GB DDR5 RAM, while the RTX 4070Tanto has only 16 GB slower DDR5 memory. The RTX 4070 is, of course better for gaming.
How much better is it? The RTX-4060 Ti should be able to deliver 60 fps or more in some of the most demanding and good-looking modern games, at 1440p, on Very High settings (but not Ultra), such as The Last of Us Part 1 or Hogwarts Legacy. The RTX-4070 should run 20-30% quicker on average, depending on the game. This makes it better for 60 fps gaming on Ultra settings or high refresh rate 1440p games.
Both cards should be able to run less demanding games like Overwatch 2 with high refresh rates. If that's what you want to do, or if you don't care about lowering the settings below Ultra, then the RTX-4060 Ti build is a better choice. You'll get a much longer lasting system with the 32 GB DDR5 RAM.
You might feel more justified upgrading your graphics card when you upgrade to the next-gen or the next-next generation. This is, I believe, the best choice for most gamers. You'll also save $99.
The RTX-4070 is the best option for gamers who want a gaming rig with more frames out of the gate. You can always add more RAM if 16 GB isn't enough. It's cheaper than upgrading the GPU.
You can choose, but with discounts this good, you'll be hard-pressed to go wrong.
