"I can look, and it goes wherever I want it to": Neuralink participant uses his brain chip to play Counter-Strike 2 using only his mind

It's a different experience to actually see the Neuralink project in action. Musk's current "PRIME" chip-on-brain project has two participants, and it appears that the second participant is already gaming on PC.

Neuralink’s "Link" is an implantable brain-computer interface, or BCI. It is designed to allow users to control digital devices using their neural activity. According to the latest Neuralink study progress update, Alex has been using the Link to quickly print 3D designs in Fusion 360 CAD software, and he's been using it to also play Counter-Strike 2

Alex uses the Link to literally thinkwhere he wants to go in the Game, and it takess him there.

Alex's spinal cord injury makes it difficult to interact with digital devices. The Neuralink update reveals that Alex used to use a mouth-operated gaming device called the Quadstick. However, this only had one joystick.

With the Link, he is able to "move and shoot simultaneously, unlocking an intuitive gameplay experience". It also opens up a world of FPS, making them playable.

Musk seems to be pursuing the same goal. In May, Musk stated that the goal was "to provide a high performance interface that will enhance control of digital devices by people with quadriplegia and unlock their personal and professional possibilities".

The goal of the PRIME Study is to "assess initial functionality of our BCI to enable people with quadriplegia control external devices using their thoughts."

It seems to be working well for the second participant as well.

Alex is happy with the product. He says he's "super-impressed" with how it works. And he also mentions that he enjoys running around because he can look to one side and not have to move Quadstick to the left or right. "I can [think] about where to look and it will go where I want it."

Look, I am the last person to warn anyone about the dangers associated with transhumanism. My alarm bells are ringing louder than ever.

Even I can't deny that BCIs could be used, at least in this project, for the greater good. In fact, this is a noble cause that is producing excellent results.
