Id Software has just launched Doom + Doom 2 - a 'definitive bundle' that adds cross platform multiplayer and in-game support to every retro Doom

Bethesda Softworks has announced that the original Doom and Doom 2 will be back in a big, bold way. Bundled with tons of new content, these updated editions of groundbreaking shooters from the 1990s are now available as a single package.

The Doom + Doom 2 Bundle, developed in partnership with Nightdive & id Software, features cross-platform deathmatch & co-op gameplay up to 16 players. It also includes modding tools, which allow modders to share work directly in game (similar to mod integration in Bethesda RPGs), as well as an updated soundtrack featuring brand-new Doom 2 recordings by Andrew Hulshult (although you can choose to use the original soundtrack if preferred). There are also new accessibility features, such as more legible fonts, a high contrast mode and improved performance via Nightdive Kex engine.

The full package includes

  • Doom
  • Doom 2.
  • TNT : Evilution
  • The Plutonia Experiment
  • Master levels for Doom 2
  • No Rest for the Living
  • Sigil
  • Legacy of Rust
  • A new Deathmatch map pack with 26 maps

Overall, there are 187 mission maps as well as 43 deathmatch maps in Doom 2 and Doom. That should keep you blasting away for a long time.

Doom + Doom 2 are now available on Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store. The update edition of Doom is free if you already own enhanced versions of Doom via Steam. Bethesda announced today at QuakeCon the new Doom Anthology, a physical edition of Doom, Doom 2 and Doom 3, as well as the 2016 Doom Reboot. It comes in a Steelbook game case, and includes a 5-inch LED-lit replica the famed BFG. It will launch on October 22, 2018.
