If in doubt, add more lubricant: Wooting’s Lekker switches have now tighter tolerances, and more of that slippy stuff. Insert your own joke here

Lubricant is the one thing that separates regular PC users and mechanical keyboard enthusiasts. PC Gamer has become a convert to the benefits of lubricated switches in our precious keebs. We're not alone. Previously, you had to lubricate your own switches. But now we see pre-lubricated switches on high-end boards.

A good dose of keyboard lubricant is no longer a luxury, but a necessity for those who are keyboard connoisseurs. It can result in a silky-smooth action. It's 2024, people, and keyboard nerds have become the cool kids. Your time has arrived.

Wooting has lubricated its switches for a while, but it's now confirmed in a tweet that its new Lekker V2 switch has an extra dose of grease for an even more smooth typing feel. The company boasts tighter tolerances that lead to a cleaner sound and less key wobble.

Welcome to the wonderful world keyboard nerdery. I had no idea, a year ago, how far mechanical keyboard enthusiasts would go to find the perfect switch and action feel on their boards. But, having used some of the best in the past, I can attest to the fact that a lubricated switch can make a huge difference to the sound and feeling of a board.

Do not just take my word. You can judge for yourself by listening to the glories of a beautifully constructed and well-lubricated typing device.

Mmm. Smooth. Smooth.

When I'm forced into using a less-than-stellar keeb, or even, perish that thought, , a membrane model, my nose wrinkles like a restaurant reviewer who's been served a dish of battery acid. Okay, it's not quite as bad, but my snobbery is growing. I admit I feel enlightened.

I type for a living as I'm sure many of you do. If you're a coder or MOBA player, or if your job requires you to send out endless emails, then you owe yourself an upgrade to the keyboard. These new Lekker switches look and sound great.

We're about to enter a brave, new world. Come lube up with us. It is better down where it is wetter, as Sebastian from The Little Mermaid once said. Take it from me.
