Shinji Mikami does not think the world requires another Dino Crisis. 'Monster Hunter has done a good job of nailing down that concept in recent years.'

Shinji Mikami is the creator of Resident Evil, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis. He recently revealed that he does not understand why fans are so excited about a new Dino Crisis. He pointed out that there are many great alternatives available to players.

The last Dino Crisis game was released in 2003. In the last few years some players have teamed up to create a fan remake. It is still a work in process. This is the closest thing we'll ever get to a new Dino Crisis game. Even its creator isn’t sure what it would be used for.

Mikami tells Eurogamer that she was "surprised" to hear this. Monster Hunter has really captured the awesomeness of dinosaurs, and what you can do with them.

"So even if i were to decide to remake or make a new version Dino Crisis, i don't feel like there's much space for that type of game right now. Just because Monster Hunter has become so popular." But yeah, it's surprising."

Mikami is correct to note how popular Monster Hunter has become. The queue for the new Monster Hunter Wilds was 10 hours long at Gamescom. This shows how popular this series has become.

Capcom didn't just make waves at the Gamescom show; the developer put in a lot of effort to build up hype for Monster Hunter Wilds on the internet. During the showcase there were several Monster Hunter Wilds Livestreams that slowly fed information to eager gamers.

This was a great announcement, as it revealed that Monster Hunter Wilds will no longer feature gendered armor. Everyone can now choose any outfit they like. Monster Hunters' loop relies on players creating new weapons and armour from monster parts, so it is great that they have more options now. While Monster Hunter is certainly gaining in popularity, I don't understand why Dino Crisis must wait.
