Konami told fans that they could 'probably connect dots' regarding its inclusion in Master Collection Volume 2 and I would bet money on it.

Volume 1 of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection was like the penultimate Infinity Stone for me, who is still living in 2005 when it came to his videogames. The most iconic, best-selling console series made its way to PC. (To be fair, GOG already had the original PC versions of 1 & 2 for a long time before that.) The ports were not perfect, but that didn't stop me from being excited about finally owning MGS3 for my PC.

The "penultimate stone" is because there are still some games missing. The Master Collection's initial volume only included the original Metal Gears and Metal Gear Solid 1 to 3. Peace Walker, Acid and Ghost Babel were all missing, as well as Metal Gear Solid 4, which is the only mainline entry that has not been properly ported to at least one platform since it was released on PS3 16 year ago.

I have a feeling that our long national nightmare is about to end. Konami's Noriaki Okamura, Konami's producer, was asked about the possibility that MGS4 would appear in a future Master Collection. His response was a wink and a nudge: "We are definitely aware of this situation." Unfortunately, we can't say much for the moment as Vol 1 contains MGS 1-3 dot-dot-dot... You can probably connect the dots!"

I've played a fair amount of Phoenix Wright, so I consider myself a detective. My skills of deduction tell me that Okamura will be saying 'Yes, we have plans to include MGS4 as part of a future release', finally releasing the game from its console shackles which have held it captive for over a decade. (And freeing me from checking out the second-hand PS3 price on eBay every half-year).

This isn't even the first sign that MGS4 will be released. Metal Gear fans discovered evidence on their website in June of last year that MGS4 would appear on a future collection. As funny as it might be for Okamura to have his dots spell out "We're not working with MGS4 so please stop asking about it", I don't believe he would use such a coy tone if Konami weren't working behind the scenes to get the game on modern platforms.

Okamura and his team are currently focused on the Master Collection volume 1 and the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. "Right Now we are still internally concerned about what should be done for the future of this series," he told IGN. "But stay tuned!"
