Nvidia's RTX RTX5070 Ti GPU specifications have allegedly leaked. I'm not certain if I am excited or exasperated.

Kopite7kimi has done it again with a comprehensive spec dump on the Nvidia RTX RTX5070 Ti (via Videocardz).

On paper, that makes the new GPU a marginal upgrade. On paper, the new GPU is a marginal upgrade.

The CUDA core upgrade represents a modest 17% increase, which is a very modest upgrade considering the two-year wait. The clockspeed is the crucial detail that's missing. The 4070 Ti comes with a 2,610MHz Boost speed. The new 5070 could increase that speed significantly.

The 5070 Ti will also be based on GB203 silicon, the same as the upcoming RTX-5080. However, that chip will have more die enabled with 10,752 CUDA Cores.

The catch is that TSMC's silicon node N4 is expected to power the entire RTX 50 series. This is a derivation from the N5 technology that was used for the RTX40 family, and not a new node as TSMC's N3 nodes. This doesn't necessarily portend a big frequency increase, even though N4 should enable some improvement over N5 in clocks.

The Blackwell architecture in the RTX cards is also a major question mark. For now, there is little information about any fundamental changes, such as a Blackwell CUDA Core doing more work per clock than the Ada Lovelace spec in the 4070 Ti.

If you combine the 17% CUDA boost with a decent clockspeed increase and more work per clock, then you could end with a pretty hefty overall performance improvement from generation to generation. Or not. All must be proved.

Pricing will be the deciding factor. It won't be good if the 5070 Ti is significantly faster than the 4070 but costs much more. Even if the 5070 only offers a small performance boost, it can still be very appealing if you find it cheap enough.

Yeah, OK, a cheap Nvidia GPU. Ha ha. But one can hope. All indications are that, in the meantime the gap between the really high-end Blackwell graphics cards and the mid-to-high rangers such as the 5070 Ti may be smaller than previous generations.

We expect the RTX 5900 and 5080 to debut at CES in early January. Many observers believe the RTX5070 could be released as early as February. The fact that the 5070 Ti specs were leaked before the 5070 specs could mean that the Ti board will be launched before the vanilla version.

It's all a bit speculative, but the main point is that there is a lot to play for. The RTX-5070 Ti could be a very attractive GPU at a reasonable price. Or a marginal upgrade for a lot of money. Place your bets, and keep an eye on this space.
