Our best wireless gaming headphone is now only $139. That's a pittance for a 300-hour battery.

This HyperX headset is not only comfortable, but also has a battery that lasts longer than any other. It looks great, sounds fantastic, and is incredibly comfortable. Battery life is likely to be what holds you back from buying a cable-free headset. A good wireless gaming headset will free you from your desk but it's important to keep an eye on the battery level and occasionally look for charging cables.

Our best wireless gaming headset boasts a 300-hour battery, which means you won't need to plug it in as often. I found the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless at Amazon for $139. At that price, this headset is a clear choice for cable-free audio.

Not just the battery life is worth mentioning. The Cloud Alpha Wireless's 50mm dynamic drivers deliver a powerful and balanced audio experience. It is perfect for gaming audio, but it can also deliver your tunes with gusto, as we discovered in our review.

While the red accents may look outlandish in photos, they are actually more refined in person. There's a bit of a gamer aesthetic here, but not so much that you'll look like a dork at a business meeting.

It's also very comfortable thanks to the thick padding under the headband, and the squishy earpads that hold the set to your skull and over your ear with ease.

They also provide a significant amount of passive sound cancellation. It's not a high-end ANC model but it will do the job for you to keep your noisy colleagues, partners and neighbors at bay.

Of course, it's not all roses. The mic is only acceptable, but it's still much better than the scratchy and tinny ones you'll find in many gaming headsets. If you want to hear the maximum volume, you may find that you leave it on max. This is loud enough for most users, but you could push it a little higher without damaging your ears.

Even with the odd compromises, you still get a headset for under $130 that will last long after inferior headsets have failed. This headset is used by several members of the PC Gamer staff as their daily driver. They all agree that it's an excellent example of its kind.
