Prime Day is a great time to buy this 240 Hz Lenovo gaming laptop. It's only $1,500. I can't find anything wrong with it.

RTX 4070 Lenovo Legion gaming laptops are known for their excellent performance and this one is no exception. The CPU is a 24-core (8 Performance 16 Efficient), plus you get 32 GB of RAM. This laptop is a steal for the price. It has a 140 W GPU and a 240Hz screen. If I were being picky, 2 TB would be nice, but 1TB is plenty.

Price check: Best Buy $1899.99

Dear Internet, I have almost failed you in my job of finding flaws in PC gaming deals. This Lenovo Legion 5i at B&H photo for $1,499 is such a great laptop for the money, I spent quite a bit of time trying to think of caveats. I eventually succeeded, but it took a little while.

Here's what you get for that hard-earned cash. You'd expect a midrange Intel or AMD processor for $1,500. But this stunner went all out with an Intel Core i9-14900HX.

  • Here's a list of all the October Prime Day PC Gaming deals!

This is a 24-core mobile CPU with eight Performance cores and 16 Efficient cores. It has a maximum boost clock of 5,8 GHz. It's one the fastest chips that you can fit into a laptop chassis and it costs medium money.

The GPU. You don't get a mobile RTX 4800, but you do get the 140 W TGP RTX4070. I've tested a number of laptops that have RTX 4270s in their heart, and can tell you this is the GPU you want if you cannot afford its larger brother.

It's all a waste of time if you're viewing all those pixels on a crappy display. This panel is a 1600p, IPS panel that is perfectly matched with this GPU. If you want to be competitive, why not play something fast-paced but undemanding like Counter-Strike 2 or Deadlock? It has a 240Hz refresh rate.

This is a very fast laptop. This laptop probably only has 16 GB RAM, like most $1500 laptops, right? Nope. 32 GB DDR5 5600. Hmmm. The problem is that it's quite a chonky... and that's also a no-go. This laptop is slim and sleek, making it perfect for travel.

Okay, now I have some criticisms. It only has 1 TB. It's fine for a starter, but I'd probably open it up and put in a cheap but excellent 2 TB NVMe hard drive pretty soon after purchasing. It also has a secondary M.2 port, so you don’t have to worry about cloning your boot drive. You can just add a new SSD.

Second? Ah, heat. It's the standard when it comes to gaming laptops. This mega-CPU may be impressive, but it will push laptop cooling systems to the limit. So expect this lappy run hot and loud under heavy load.

What else is there? $1,500 is normally enough to get a good gaming laptop. But here, you're getting something powerful that you can easily pack in your bag. This deal is the best of all the Prime Day gaming deals we have found over the course and beyond the sales.
