I love the AceZone A-Spire. This gaming headset offers tournament-quality features at home, such as pinpoint positioning, excellent noise isolation, and superb noise cancellation. But it's pricey.
Amazon is currently offering a $100 discount on a pair of shoes, bringing the price down to only$219 AceZone sells them for $239.
That's a hefty price tag for a gaming headset. This is a very expensive set, especially if it's a wired one. Even with the discount, it's still a very expensive set. But these cans are competitive and have some really original features. I reviewed them earlier in the year and had only a few minor gripes about an otherwise impressive package.
The noise cancellation is what I find most appealing. The earcups are equipped with a feedback microphone, feedforward microphone and ANC chip. These three components work together to provide excellent noise cancellation. This is especially effective when combined with the leatherette earcups, which provide impressive passive noise insulation. It makes for a calm and quiet gaming experience.
The noise cancellation is also extended to the microphone on a flexible boom. Once lowered, the mic will unmute and can be adjusted so that it sits right in front of you as you shout commands at your team. The microphone is very clear and I was impressed with the quality of these headphones during my review.
Most of my complaints about this headset are microphone-related. The flip-to-mute feature requires a microphone that is completely upright. Also, the clip for the mic, which was largely unnecessary, broke and the foam tip would often fall off. These are minor things, but they matter more when you spend so much money.
AceZone A-Spire offers multiple modes to FPS players with keen ears, including Apex legends and Counter-Strike. These are said to be designed to highlight audio cues within these two games, and can be activated from the mobile app.
This is where it gets confusing. This model of Aspire is not sold as a headset that is wireless, although it is. It has Bluetooth connectivity to connect to your mobile phone. This is useful for listening to music. You'll probably use it most often in conjunction with AceZone mobile application, which allows you to adjust the EQ and fiddle with settings.
The standard A-Spire does not have a 2.4 GHz radio.
A-Spire Wireless, which was recently released, offers full 2.4 GHz connectivity for just $269. This is also with a $100 discount applied. I have used the wireless set, and like our independent tester with a different pair, I found the 2.4GHz connection to dongle to be a bit unreliable. It's also a little difficult to reconnect.
The price of the wired option is what I dislike. The $100 discount is a great help in this regard.
