PSA: Don't skip this Dragon Age: Veilguard sidequest, as it provides a lot of context for the main plot.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is full of side quests. There are a lot, and you should do them all if you want your game to be appropriately leveled for harder difficulties. You should also start tackling them immediately, as the game does not warn you when you are about to remove them from your list as you advance the main story.

I'm here to tell you that you extrashouldn’t miss out on a side quest: Regrets Of The Dread Wolf. This quest is available early in the game. It may look like a treasure hunt themed around Crossroads, but it has a huge impact on the main story. It's so important that I'm surprised it's not part of the main story (although you get one of the statuettes needed from the main questline).

I'll try to spoil as little as possible, but Regrets is a game that develops both major elven God antagonists. It also fleshes out Solas journey, and includes several world-changing Lore-drops. ,features an conversation which I can only assume has some connection to the ending. I've played for 50 hours, but I haven't reached the final. I've got chests that I need to collect.

This side quest is forgiving, unlike some other time-gated ones. Its overall arc will take you to level 50, so you don't have to worry if you find yourself battling an over-leveled boss. You can always return later, and as mentioned above, you will haveto receive one of the final wolf statues.

You can't complete this quest until all of your companions are gathered: Harding, Neve Bellara, Lucanis Davrin Emmrich Taash. You've got to catch 'em, as one pocket monster game would say.

To be honest, this thing is optional. Regrets does a much better job at developing Solas and Elgar'nan than the first few hours. I was a bit confused that all these conversations were happening at once, even though I'm enjoying the story. The core conflicts are interesting, but they're relegated as side quests and, if your attention has been paid, presented in a single expositional flurry. It's worth getting your doggy statues, I promise.
