Silksong's thirst has reached such a high level that Geoff Keighley had to announce it wouldn't be available at his show in order for people not to lose their minds.

The games industry is built upon absurd, slavering and often unfulfilled promises. It's been that way for a long time and, God willing, it will continue to be. We all love to get into a tizzy trying to guess what announcements the weirdly dressed execs or nervous devs are going to make at this year's show.

Normally, events are happy to have that kind of buzz. It will only generate buzz and attract an audience if subreddits, forum posts and other users are convinced that is the theme of this year's announcement. Hollow Knight fans seem to have discovered the upper limit. Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live, which is a live broadcast of Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live, has released a statement ahead of the event in order to manage their expectations.

The Gamescom Opening Night Live is tomorrow. You'd think that Geoff would be happy to hear the kind of fervent speculations that could get people to tune in. But the Silksong fans are beyond being tamed at this point. Every time the game is not mentioned in a Nintendo Direct or State of Play, the community finds new levels of despair. Most recently, we saw the community reach for their pitchforks after a person claiming to be a tester for the game said that it was not in development hell. Some fans were convinced he was playing on their emotions.

It's not really reasonable. No matter how good a game is, it's still just a game. If you find yourself spitting venom because someone hasn't given you the right kindof information about one, then you should probably go for a stroll. Keighley is right to want to let people know that ONL will be Skong-less.

Even if some of it was too much, you can't blame the fans for being tired. Since the game's official announcement five years ago, updates have been so few that they are almost non-existent. Team Cherry is right to keep things under wraps and only reveal them when they are ready. But it would be better if there were more frequent updates. After all, we haven't had a trailer for the game since 2022. I wonder if they regret announcing it at the time.

We know for certain that Silksong will not be at Big Geoff Keighley’s Gamescom Bonanza. What could this mean? It is clear that it will be at the Tokyo Game Show in September. Come on everyone. Keep the faith. You can only help Team Cherry if you have faith.
