Skyrim is finally playable after modder creates "coffins so comfortable you'll want to be dead"
What happens to you after you die in Skyrim? The draugr suggest that you are buried in a big tomb to kill future adventurers. But aren't all those Nords? What if your character is a Breton or Dunmer?
You're likely to be stuck in one of the provinces many plain, humdrum coffins. It might be enough for the paupers but I am a Dragonborn with wealth and taste. I need the best possible vessel for my journey up the Styx.
It's been 13 years since the release of the game, but someone finally heard my cries. Modder sothasimp has created a range plush sarcophagi to satisfy those who want a beautiful casket and a corpse. Comfy Coffins was released a week ago, and "replaces coffins such as Solitude coffins or vampire coffins with coffins that are so comfortable you'll wish to be dead!"
I'm not gonna lie. I would be happy to sleep forever in any one of these body-boxes. They're sleek and sexy. They're velvet-lined. They're latest cri. You thought Lenin’s Mausoleum was restful? I could live in one of these places for the rest of my days and then some.
Sothasimp is a modder who has made a career out of replacing "things that people in Skyrim lie down on". Along with their luxurious corpse crates, they also have Cozy Cots and Dunmer Dreams.
I love it. It's not just because of its ludicrous particularity, but also because it's one of those truly heartening signs that Skyrim is immortal. Even if you're not a huge fan of the game, the fact that it is still being updated, tweaked, replaced, and given incredibly niche make-overs 13 years later is one of the coolest things. We will never run out of people with specific desires for Skyrim, and the willpower necessary to make them a reality.
You can download any coffins you like from Nexus, and then just drop them into your Skyrim data folder. There isn't even a.esp to check. That's a very efficient burial.
