Space Marine 2 has revealed its post-launch plans. There will be four seasons of paid cosmetics, as well as free gameplay updates, including new maps, enemies, weapons and a horde mod.

Saber Interactive's Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 will launch on September 9 but the developer has big plans for the game beyond its initial release. The studio released its "Year One Battle Plan", a list of four seasons that will take the game well into 2025.

In a recent update, Focus Entertainment explained that the Space Marine 2 Season Pass, which comes with the Gold and Ultra Editions of the game is "designed as a way for you to customize your character." "All of the gameplay additions listed in this roadmap (including weapons and game modes) are intended to be available in *free game patch* and will be available to everyone."

The first season of Space Marine 2 is going to be focused on the player feedback and "quick patches" as well as the promised features such as ultrawide display support. (No, Space Marine 2 won't have ultrawide at launch which is odd, but I suppose it isn't the same thing. Sorry) and private PvE lobby. Season two content should start to drop between October and the end the year.

Season pass holders will receive new cosmetics based upon the Dark Angels chapter.

Beyond that, things get a little vague: new missions, modes and arenas will be announced at a later date, as well as more cosmetic packs for Season Pass holders. Focus has launched a "Focus Together", a community hub where players can "chat to our team, share their feedback, or even suggest new Space Marine 2 ideas."

The team wrote: "The launch is a new chapter in our lives." "We will continue to update the community regularly about the wealth content that is coming to the game throughout this year and beyond!"

Space Marine 2 wasn't a big hit when we played it in 2023. But a delay of nearly a year has made a huge difference. In a hands on preview earlier this month senior editor Robin Valentine stated that the game "feels more explosively grimly and hilariously authentic than the original Space Marine": "A slice pure spectacle and chaos sure to please any Warhammer fans."
