The trailer for The Last of Us Season 2 is full of action, zombies and Joel being very sad.
The first official trailer for HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 is now available. It gives us a sad look at the world after the events of season 1.
I won't ruin anything for you. If you have seen The Last of Us Part 2, you will know what to expect. If not, Wikipedia is a great resource if you can't wait. It's enough to say that, in the wake the Cordyceps Pandemic, life has returned to some sort of normalcy or stability. However, just like in the real world, there are still some days better than others. And those days that are not so good, boy, they're really bad.
The trailer is full of zombies, gunfire and implied torture. It's a kinetic, bad news film. I'm guessing the goal is to address the common complaint that, while the first season was narratively brilliant, it lacked in the action department.
It seems that our guess about Catherine O'Hara's "undisclosed" role being a therapist was right: the timer at the beginning of the trailer is an obvious clue that this isn't idle chitchat over a few room-temperature Lone Stars.
It's important to note that The Last of Us Part 2 knowledge does not guarantee accurate insight into The Last of Us Season 2. Craig Mazin, the showrunner, said in 2023, that HBO's version of the game would be different when and where it is needed, sometimes "radically," although I doubt that this will have a big impact on , the whole Joel thing. (No spoilers! Just a little something to say.
The first part of the number in a previously released teaser (which was removed) stated that The Last of Us Season 2 would be released sometime between 2024-25. However, the second half of the number is no longer on the table. The exact release date has not been announced, but the trailer today confirms that it won't come out until 2025.
