Steam Deck is still available for a limited time on Black Friday. I think this is the perfect gift for PC gamers.
Valve has once again dropped the Steam Deck LCD price for Black Friday, making it a handheld gaming computer that's hard to beat. It's almost impossible to beat.
Black Friday is close to the holiday shopping season, so it's a great time to grab a bargain for PC game enthusiasts. Or you, of course. Steam Deck LCD 512GB is now just under $337. At that price, it's a no-brainer.
We have curated the best Black Friday PC Gaming Deals that are still available
You can take it from the entire PC Gamer Hardware team (we all love a Steam Deck) or just me if you prefer. I keep this exact model on my bedside all year, except when I travel. Over the past year-and-a-half, I've stuffed this into the seatbacks of several airplanes and it has never let me down.
There are certainly more powerful gaming handhelds available, and you can even buy an updated OLED version, but the Steam Deck is the archetype for the form. It's PC gaming royalty.
The controls are placed perfectly and feel great. SteamOS is a fantastic way to manage your games. The battery life on the handheld is decent but not exceptional.
What's most important about the Steam Deck, however, is that it has stood the test time even as its competition has moved on. It's cheaper than all of them, but it doesn't perform or feel like one.
It has been a faithful companion to me for many years and still is. It's one of the best portable gaming PCs for indie games, platformers, RPGs, and even handheld strategy gaming.
It can still deliver a surprising performance, even if you don't care about a frame rate of 30 fps or less, in demanding games like Cyberpunk.
Jacob, our Jacob, is tracking a variety of Black Friday handheld gaming computers live. But I'll tell you right now that nothing will beat this one in terms of price. The 64 GB version is the only one with decent storage, but it's still a small amount. You could always open it up and put in a larger and better SSD drive later, like the Lexar Play 2230.
If you've been tempted to buy but haven't yet, now is the time. Steam Deck LCD has been around for some time, but is still a great deal in 2024.
