The developers of Mega-mod Fallout London plan to open their own independent studio.

The dev admits that Fallout London is "held together by duct tape", but it's still a powerful machine. Joshua Wolens, our news writer, has been having fun with the behemoth Fallout 4 Mod when it isn't booting him to the desktop. I'm as pleased as chips to see that it sticks the landing well as a mod should.

The developers of Fallout London have big plans to move forward on the success of the game. In a BBC follow-up interview, Dean Carter, of Team Folon, expressed his interest in turning a team that started as modders into a proper independent studio.

"As much I love that this is a free project, free doesn't pay the bills." It's been great that many of the people who enjoyed it have donated. For legal reasons, you generally can't ask for cash for a mod unless you're working through an official storefront--donations, on the other hand, are a lot easier to let slide.

"We've channeled that into team Folon, which is where we're moving to. And then we'll hopefully launch our own independent games company."

This is exciting news for me as a fan of RPGs (assuming Folon does not make a hard pivot into farming simulators). It's great to see another developer working on one of my favorite genres. It's probably a while away, but it's possible. It takes years to develop a game, and the transition from modding to full-blown development is a huge undertaking.

Carter is excited about the new system, telling the BBC it will allow the team to come up with their own ideas, develop their own game and work with the community, without having to talk to anyone above them.

This particular subject seems to be a source of frustration. Carter revealed earlier in the interview that the team Folon had not heard from Bethesda. "We don't want anything from them. We're just fans, and it's just their IP. But no, there hasn’t been any communication." It's strange because Bethesda hasn't communicated with us at all.

Bethesda had to inform them about the next-gen upgrade, but I'm surprised that they haven’t given Fallout London a single compliment--even on the community side of things. It's a free win. But hey. I think that the former Speaker of the House is enough recognition.
