The RTX 4070 competitor is rumoured to be the next-gen Intel GPU Battlemage, with 16 GB of VRAM. It will launch next year.
It is rumoured that the top end of Battlemage - Intel's next major GPU - will finally launch next month, and could bring RTX Super levels of gaming. Alongside this, a cheaper GPU that will directly compete with RTX 4060Ti should be released.
Intel has been in an odd spot for a while. Its 13th- and 14th-gen chips suffered from severe instability issues, and even its most recent CPUs, Ultra 5 245K & Ultra 9 285K are a little disappointing in the gaming department. It has a chance to regain some of its credibility with its upcoming midrange discrete GPU codenamed Battlemage. The latest rumours indicate that it may just do so.
RedGamingTech reports that Intel is currently working on two. Intel is currently working on two. According to RedGamingTech, a tech YouTuber, Intel is currently preparing two.
Intel has decided to focus its resources on the mid-range market, as this is where most gamers spend their money.
Intel's decision to launch the RTX4060 Ti and RTX4070 Super cards, just as Nvidia prepares to announce its RTX5080 and RTX5090 line, is a bold move that shows its desire to compete against its mid-range graphics cards.
It must be cheaper than Nvidia cards or perform better in some other way. I recently upgraded to a RTX Super myself, and it's a great piece of tech for its MSRP of only $599. Intel has a chance if it can undercut the price by a significant amount, but it will be difficult to do in these tough times.
Intel Arc cards were often held back by their high power draw, expensive price, or software issues. Intel's software has improved in the last few years, so there is hope that it can pull this out of the bag. Battlemage's Lunar Lake iGPU is a much more consistent performer compared to any of the Alchemist graphics cards we've previously tested. It should be a much smoother ride if you buy a discrete Intel graphic card of the new generation.
Golden Pig, a hardware leaker, shared last month that the card will launch in December. However, there is some ambiguity in this statement as the translation of the original post from Chinese to English may have lost some sarcasm. The RedGamingTech video shows the same release window, which could be a launch in a matter of weeks.
