The videogame version of Terrifier is coming. This indie horror movie, which managed to 10x its budget, while Joker: Folie A Deux floundered in the water, has made a 10x profit.

Terrifier is an American horror series that revolves around a demon serial killer clown named Art who continues to cause havoc in Miles County, even after three films. The third film, which is currently playing in cinemas, was a real hit. It made 10x its initial budget with $18 millions in its first weekend. While Joker: Folie a Deux managed to make $37.8 in its first weekend, it has yet to break even. Art is stepping into the videogame world before we even consider a fourth film.

Terrifier: The ARTcade Game, a retro-inspired pixel-art sidescroller, takes place in Art the Clown’s world from the Terrifier movies (via IGN). There are six different game modes for the four-player local cooperative game. You can also play as Art, a singleplayer character in the campaign.

Relevo, the developer, says that "[Art] disrupts film sets where films about his gruesome crimes are being shot." "Instead of letting cameras capture the staged horror, Art brings his brand of real chaos by tearing through hordes policemen, firefighters, camera operators and stunt performers. He even rips through unsuspecting civilians."

The Steam page claims that you will eventually face boss battles that "test your skill" but I won't believe it until I see them.

The teaser trailer of Terrifier: The ARTcade Game has a ridiculously over-the-top style that is actually quite funny (which is the twisted point in the films). The trailer begins with a couple walking down a dark alleyway. Art interrupts their conversation by slicing off the woman's face and then smiling in a slightly distorted version of his trademark toothy smile.

After the shaky beginning, we get a glimpse of what the actual game will look like. The music is great, but the gameplay doesn't seem to be very interesting. It's your standard side-scrolling game with graphics from the Sega Genisis era. But I hope to be proven wrong when Terrifier: the Artcade Game is released in 2025.
