The Witcher 4 has finally reached full production. 'Ahead lies the most intense and main stage of development.'

In today's Q3 financial update from CD Projekt, the studio announced that Polaris - the game we call The Witcher 4 - is now in full manufacturing.

The full-page slide that was used to announce the development change in the group presentation will tell you it's a big deal.

Piotr Nelubowicz, chief financial officer at CD Projekt, said: "I am pleased to announce that [Polaris] has moved into full-scale production several weeks ago." "This is the most advanced project of all ours, and we are now entering the most intensive development phase." I want to thank the team and keep my fingers crossed that we will continue to make progress.

The Molasses Flood is developing a Witcher spin-off called Sirius. Hadar was announced as a "third, entirely different IP" in 2022. It remains a mystery.

This is the breakdown of who's responsible for what. It's not a big change from the last financial report.

In today's earnings conference, CD Projekt joint CEO Michal nowakowski explained that the slightly reduced number of developers for Polaris "reflects a natural transition as we have completed the preproduction phase and adjusted our team setup to meet current needs of the product phase."

Nowakowski explained what the shift from pre-production to full production actually means. "The production phase is the most important and intense stage of development. We will now scale up the solutions that we have developed and tested so far across the entire video game.

Nowakowski elaborated on this a little more in the call. "Now that we have a target, we know exactly what we want to accomplish within the game. It's now a matter of filling in the gaps." This is a gross oversimplification, but it's what entering production means. We have a large chunk of the game that has been developed to prove certain concepts. Now we can populate it according to plan."

The Witcher 4 has yet to be given a release date, which isn’t surprising considering the long-winded shmozzle that was Cyberpunk 2077. One caller asked about the game's timeline during the Q&A section of the presentation. Nowakowski firmly replied, "I won't answer that question, of course." He also complimented him for asking a very clever question.
