This $300 Cyberpunk Edgerunners statue captures the most horrific moment from the anime

Dark Horse's new Cyberpunk Edgerunners statue is one of the most impressive and dynamic collectibles that I have seen in a long time. The "Final Moments" statue is now available for preorder at Dark Horse Direct. Given the level of detail, I almost can forgive its $300 price. My first reaction was not "ooh," but rather "dear God," because the "final moments" depicted in this collectible are pretty horrific.

If you don't know, you should. Cyberpunk Edgerunners, one of Netflix's most popular shows in recent years, is worth watching.

If I were a casual shopper I would assume that this statue represents the climax in a major battle of the series -- two equally opposing forces colliding barrel to barrel. This couldn't possibly be more false. This is the first Edgerunners collector's item Dark Horse has ever produced. It chose to crystalize Rebecca just eight nanoseconds prior to Adam Smasher brutally curbstomping her to death. (Warning: violent clip). This is an execution--a continuation of the shocking death of a major character that the show dwells upon for only five seconds before moving on to the depressing conclusion.

I don't care about the subject matter, but I can see why Dark Horse chose this scene. The poses are cool, the drama is high and the way they have defied gravity in joining the guns is neat. My eyes are drawn to Rebecca and Smasher. As illustrator Triple-Q pointed out on Twitter: "This is like selling a figure of Old Yeller next to a shotgun barrel." Cruel? Cruel? Badass? Definitely.
