This Acer gaming laptop is a great value for money with a 2000p 165 Hz screen, a real RTX 4070 and 32 GB DDR5 memory for only $1,500.

$1,899.99 Save $400 on Amazon's $1,499.99 Let's begin with a warning: the chassis isn't one of the most attractive we've ever seen. This laptop has a 140W RTX 4070 GPU, a 16 core Meteor Lake (six Performance and eight Efficient) chip, and a 16" LED-backlit IPS screen with a resolution of 2000p. The RTX-4070 might struggle with this resolution in demanding games. But DLSS 3 will keep frame rates smooth. 32 GB DDR5 is also a great addition.

I sometimes feel that the magnificent Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 chassis has ruined other laptop designs for me. It's a milled aluminum wonder that makes every other thin 16-inch laptop seem inferior.

This Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 may not be as attractive, but the components it contains are worth the money, especially when you can get it for a discounted price of $1,500 on Amazon. The Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 might not look as impressive, but the components you get inside are well worth the money. Especially when you can find it at a discount of $1,500 on Amazon.

Let's begin with the GPU, one of the most crucial components in a gaming notebook build. It's a 140 W RTX 4270, which is impressive considering that this is a very slim and portable laptop.

I would say that the screen is also a very important component. It's not worth pushing out a lot of gaming pixels if your display is a bit of a turd. But you shouldn't have any worries with this panel. This is a 2000p IPS panel with a 165Hz refresh rate. It's not as beautiful or as fast as Asus' OLED display, but it is still very fast and well-specced.

Even a mobile RTX4070 with full strength might find 3200 x 2 000 resolution a bit too much. But you can always lower it a little, or use DLSS 3 to get a lot of frames.

What about the CPU? It's an Intel Core Ultra 9185H with six Performance Cores and eight Efficient Cores. Meteor Lake may not have been Intel's most impressive mobile processor generation, but it should still be able to deliver excellent gaming performance. It also comes with 32 GB of DDR5, which is a nice addition to a laptop this price.

It's just as well, as the RAM has been soldered directly to the board. No upgrades are possible. It's still plenty of RAM for a gaming laptop. I don't have to say that 16 GB laptops are too expensive. This machine is fully equipped, and I think it's a good deal for the money.

What about my beloved Asus? Best Buy is still selling it for $1,700. Which laptop you choose is really a matter of how much money you have. If money is a bit tight, the Acer G16 offers a lot of gaming for less than $200.
