This battle for the best gaming PC under $2,000 pits AMD against Nvidia, and raster against ray tracing. So, RX XTX vs RTX Super?

It's been a long time since I've seen two genuinely amazing RTX 4080 and RX 7900 XTX build competing in the same price bracket under $2,000 It's possible that the upcoming GPU generation is bringing down current-gen prices, or it could be the wind of chance blowing our way.

Both of these gaming PCs retail for $1,950, with a savings of $350 on Newegg's 7900 XTX and a savings of $550 on Newegg's 4080 Super, and given that most of their specs are similar or the same, the decision comes down to which one has an AMD or Nvidia GPU.

Both the RX 7900 XTX & RTX 4080 Super graphics cards are among the best on the market. However, they have their own pros and cons which makes the choice difficult. In a way, this makes it easier because both rigs offer high-end gaming at 4K and are equally impressive.

It's still worth comparing the two, despite the significant discounts. $1,950 is a lot of money to spend on one purchase.

$2,499.99 Newegg: $1,949.99 (Save $550) This is the cheapest RTX 4080 Super I've seen in a long time, and it's surprisingly balanced outside of the GPU department too. This PC's RTX 4080 Super is a high-end gaming rig with a lot of power. It also has a 13th Generation i7 CPU and 32 GB of DDR5 RAM. Remember that the CPU doesn't have integrated graphics, and 1 TB of storage isn't much these days. You may want to upgrade your SSD later." data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">

This Yeyian Phoenix builds shares the same specs with the Cooler Master build below. The Core i7-14700KF variant is a slightly refreshed version of Core i7-13700F. It just has some potential overclocking abilities. Both builds include fast DDR5 memory and everything else you could possibly want for under $2,000

The graphics card is the most significant difference. The RTX 4080 super in this PC performs a bit worse than the RX XTX on average when it comes to pure raster gaming performance. The RTX 4080 Super is a better ray tracing card and has access to proprietary Nvidia features, such as Reflex anti-lag technology, DLSS, and full-fledged GSync. FSR is available on the RX 7900 XTX, but it can't compete with DLSS 3 Frame Generation.

The RTX 4080 Super Build may lag behind the RX XTX Build in terms of full raster performance but it delivers more on the overall package and ecosystem.

The front of the case may look old-fashioned, but what's on the inside is more important. It's all good with a fast CPU with 20 cores and 28 threads, AMD's top gaming GPU with 24GB of VRAM, lots of fast DDR5 memory, and a decent SSD (though you'll want to install a larger drive soon). The motherboard is overclockable and the cooling gear is all Cooler Master, so you can be sure it's up to the task." data-widget-price=""currency":"USD"" data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">

This Cooler Master TD5 Pro builds RX 7900 XTX is AMD's best gaming graphics card. AMD's GPUs are only getting better with driver updates. It's the closest you can get to flagship raster without spending a small fortune on RTX 4090.

This could be enough to convince you to choose AMD's rig over the Nvidia. If you still need a little extra encouragement, consider that the GPU boasts 24 GB VRAM, compared to 16 GB on the 4080 Super. It's true that 16 GB of VRAM is enough for most gaming situations, but this won't last forever.

If you're interested in 3D rendering, or other graphically intensive tasks, you may want to choose this build over the Yeyian version.

VRAM is also useful for AI but it's harder to argue that use case, given that Nvidia CUDA is more prevalent in this sphere.

You can't go wrong with either build. Whether you choose the Cooler Master build for its sheer raster power or the Yeyian Build for its versatility and high-end chops, both are priced at $1,950.
