It's true that the RTX 4070 Super has replaced it, but this newer model offers only a small amount of extra gaming performance, and is $60 more expensive today at its lowest price. AMD's Radeon RX7800 XT is a more formidable competitor for the RTX4070, as it can outperform GeForce GPUs in some rasterized games. The cheapest price we found was $480.

The AMD card is hampered by ray tracing, which drastically reduces its frame rate in games that rely on super shiny lighting effects. Nvidia's RTX cards also have a more mature ecosystem, thanks to its low-latency gaming features, and most notably the DLSS upscaling goodness. This includes Ray Reconstruction, which improves ray tracing accuracy, and Frame Generation. Performance, gratis. What a wonderful world.

AMD's version of frame generation is also available, but it is not as effective. With the RTX-4070's price being so close to the RX-7800 XT's original launch, I would be more tempted now. Even though the 16 GB vs. 12 GB VRAM argument is still raging.
