This RTX Super rig isn't perfect but it could be the best Black Friday desktop PC deal to date and it would get my money.

GPU. GPU. GPU. GPU is the most important component in gaming PCs. Other components are important, but the CPU is most obvious. Your choice of graphics card will determine the ultimate gaming experience more than any other component.

B&H Photo's Lenovo Legion 5i gaming PC is my choice for $1,599 and I think it's worth it. It runs an Nvidia RTX '4070 Ti Super, and for me that is where high-end gaming starts. We also liked the lower-spec version we reviewed the other day.

The Ti Super is unique among all 4070 variants, as it's the only one to use the larger AD103 chip found in the RTX 4000 and RTX 4000 Super cards. The 4070, 4070 Ti, and 4070 Super all use the AD104 die with its 192-bit memory controller.

You also get 8,448 CUDA Cores, which is a lot more than the 5,888 cores of the basic 4070. It's also a lot more than the 7,168 cores of the 4070 super and 7,680 cores of the 4070 ti. As a rule, it's better to have a slightly reduced version of the largest GPU possible than a smaller GPU maxed out. I would argue that the 4070 Ti Super is a good fit for this, despite its silly branding.

You also get Intel's Core i7-14700F CPU, which has eight Performance cores and 12 Efficient Cores. (Read our review of the 14700K, a closely related model). Intel's new Arrow Lake processors aren't really a game changer for gaming. The 14700F is up there with Intel's best gaming chips.

AMD has been making the best gaming CPUs in recent years. There's also the issue of instability, crashing, and voltage spikes to consider. If you are willing to use an Intel 14th Gen Processor, and we believe that they are a safe bet, after multiple microcode updates by Intel, the 14700F will serve you well for several years.

The bad press Intel has received may have actually helped to drive down the price. You can also get an 850W PSU and 32GB of RAM. This is enough, but the storage is only 1TB, which will quickly fill up with today's ridiculous 100GB-plus games.

At this price point, however, something must give. The CPU cooler is another thing that could be a little short. According to the spec sheet, the CPU cooler might not be the most powerful item. This could prevent you extracting the maximum performance from the Intel chip. In reality, this is unlikely to have a noticeable impact on performance in games. You can upgrade the cooler yourself, if you want to be picky.

It comes in a nice, premium-branded Lenovo box, rather than the generic chassis that you get with smaller boutique brands. Lenovo throws in a free keyboard and mouse.

This isn't a perfect gaming PC. It's the best way to get RTX Super Gaming RTX 4070Ti right now, and it comes from one of the largest brands in the industry. This is where I would spend my money if I were PC shopping today.
