Thunderbolts official poster with a sixth finger added to Thunderbolts
A new poster for Thunderbolts features a character who has six fingers on one of his hands.
Look at the guy on the bottom left. As Gamespot points out in the teaser, the character (Bob), had five fingers.
If Marvel isn't teasing a third act twist in which this Thunderbolt sprouts another digit, then the six-finger poster that was shared today by the official Marvel Twitter accounts and Instagram accounts appears to be altered from its original appearance. This is the only version that has the error. Marvel's blog post with the new teaser included a more narrow version of this poster that cuts before the sixth finger.
The rogue finger may seem strange, but it's likely that someone from the marketing or social team needed to resize a standard poster in order to fit Twitter or Instagram's image formats. They chose to extend the edges and "autofill the empty space." It's unclear whether or not Marvel used generative AI for the job. An actual graphic artist would be able to tell you better. However, this could have been a simple mistake with Photoshop's Content Aware Fill feature. This is a machine learning AI tool but is not the same as generative AI.
Marvel has not yet commented on the posters with bonus fingers. Below you can watch the teaser for Thunderbolts* (wow, the asterisk actually is part of the title).
