XCOM 2 costs just $3 for a single day on Steam. That's cheaper than the bus that I took to work today, or a World of Warcraft membership of 1/5th.

XCOM 2 is a great game, and I don't want to waste my time explaining it to someone who hasn't played it. But in case you haven't heard of Firaxis masterpiece in turn-based strategy, let me explain the grid to you.

This game, which we gave a 94% in our XCOM 2 Review back in 2016, set a new standard in its genre. It expanded on the first game, also a banger, with new mechanics and a deliciously ominous atmosphere that makes each playthrough a nail-biter.

The series relies heavily on permanence. It's easy to get into a tailspin where you're desperately trying to gather enough resources and troops to prevent the aliens from converting you into paste.

It's only $3 (PS1.74) for the moment on Steam for, at the point of writing, 28 hour and 28 minute. That's a steal for a cup of coffee, let along one of the most popular tactic games in the last decade. It's also cheaper than the bus that I took this morning to work, and I am reasonably confident that it's more fun than public transportation.

The game's flagship DLC, War of the Chosen, which is excellent and worth a purchase, is not discounted in the same way. If you want to take advantage of this, I recommend waiting to buy it, especially because it was priced similarly at around $2.70(PS2.40) back in June, according to SteamDB's historical price data. It also regularly offers similar discounts.

FOMO isn't as bad if you are really strapped for money. The base game also had similar discounts in the past year. However, given the large gaps between the offers, it would be a moon logic to miss out on snagging the game for less than a Big Mac or the cost of seven Freddos.
