The bottom line is if you're smart enough to read the title, you're smart enough to know what you're buying. So anime fans play to your heart's content. I know I am!

Even though the story modes are really confusing what this series has always relied on is the fun-factor of slicing up hundred of enemies on screen at one time, and that is what DW: Gundam does right. Enjoy it for a couple hours, do some co-op and then move on; that’s about all there is to it.

As for the gameplay, it does just enough to outdo previous Gundam games, though its repetitive nature won't please everyone, and the lack of online play hurts. Still, it does offer a few hours of robot smashing fun.

Hack-n-slash gameplay done right. Thousands of enemies, over a hundred of which can be visible on screen at any given time, and the coolest mobile suits around. If the developers could find a way to prevent the game from becoming repetitive, then the eventual sequel – or the next spin-off – could be amazing.

It can be fun at times, and leveling your pilots up does encourage multiple play throughs, but this game is much more suitable for Gundam enthusiasts than the average gamer.

This is the definition of a niche title. Fans of either series are going to dig it...other gamers, maybe not so much. It's fun for a little while, but not really that great.

Combine that frustration with the almost insultingly shallow combat and it's hard to get too excited about jumping back into the game more than once or twice.

If you enjoy the thought of watching Kamille Bidan and Heero Yui team up to blow away an army of Zakus and Z'Goks, or if you're simply a fan of the hack-and-slash gameplay that the Dynasty Warriors franchise provides, then you could do far worse than Dynasty Warriors: Gundam.

Aside from replacing ancient Chinese warlords with robots from the all-pervasive classic anime series' mythology, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam changes as little as possible.

What you're left with is a basic game that follows in the horde of footsteps of the series that has come before it: it's serviceable but uninspired, and won't do much for you unless you're a big fan of either of the source materials. Predictable, right?

This game is good for a quick robot violence fix or if you happen to be a huge Gundam fan, but that's about it.

Dynasty Warriors Gundam doesn’t stray too much from the classic DW formula, but for hack-and-slash fans, that may not be such a bad thing.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam is just the same old game with new faces and new places. It's repetitive and unimpressive throughout, yet it's oddly addicting.

Novelty is a little harder to come by. Dynasty Warriors Gundam doesn't aim to revolutionize either series, but it does represent a single, rocket-fueled step in the right direction.

The backloaded achievements, uninspired gameplay, graphical simplicity, and overall disappointing showing make this a rainy Sunday game even for fans of the Gundam universe.

Despite the dated gameplay, lack of online options and baffling storyline, the game manages to still be fun thanks in no small part to the charm that the Gundam license brings to the title.

Dynasty Warriors Gundam is not a bad game, but it's certainly nothing special, nor will it be as fun for Warriors fans as the real thing.

Well, for what it's worth, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam wins the distinction of being the first game that made me fall asleep while playing it.

North American gamers who aren’t rabid Gundam fans, or Gundam fans that demand at least a solid game experience to go with their giant robots, or even fans of the Dynasty Warriors series should approach this battle with caution – sometimes you have to pick your battles.

If you can tolerate endlessly replaying the same levels just to progress, light RPG elements like collecting equipment, acquiring skills, and upgrading pilot and mobile suit levels might make up for some aggravation, but even faithful fans of Gundam and Dynasty Warriors alike won't find much in the way of lasting excitement here.
