Minecraft players are sending two of the most creepy mobs after Minecraft Live.

Minecraft Live 2024 is over and it was not as exciting as in previous years. The livestream was brief and left out the mob voting and any major announcements of an upcoming update. However, there was one silver lining: a new biome, and with it, a new type of mob.

The Pale Garden biome is a new, eerie forest biome. It has moss-hanging tress (which create a beautiful new white wood type), low-visibility, and no animals. The only mob is a Creaking, a new enemy. This mob will follow you through the forest, chasing you every time you leave its sight. What's worse is that you can't kill it. Players should instead search for the block that it's attached to. Only after you destroy the block will the Creaking be killed.

As soon as I learned about the Creaking I was horrified. It seems that Mojang is slowly, but surely, turning the once peaceful and creative survival game into an eldritch horror. After the Warden, and now this I may never be able to rest again. It seems that I'm the only person who's not happy to hear about the Creaking. As usual, the internet has taken the Creaking and run with it. It's an oddly sweet but typically cursed direction.

Looking around I found pages and pages of fanart of the Creaking with the Warden (Minecraft's other cursed monster), because they seem to be in love.

There are a lot of amazing artworks floating around. Most of them were inspired by a tweet that asked the brave question, "Do you believe they've explored each others' bodies?" One response claimed the pairing was "Yaoi", something I don’t have the courage or permission to explain. I've seen artwork titled "creak me" along with other fantastic drawings. It's impossible not to be impressed by all of these pictures and paintings. Some fans have noted that the relationship could be violent: "One hates noises, and they both creak constantly." They are in the most violent way possible. They are tearing eachother apart like pulled pork.

Minecraft players are obsessed with this pairing, because it seems like a match made for heaven. The Creaking cannot be seen, as it is frozen, but it can make noises. The Warden, on the other hand, has no eyes, and uses sound to navigate, so the Creaking could help it. In practice, it's not as romantic as the fanart might have you believe. Mobs are known to fight if provoked. But in theory, this could be possible.

I shouldn't have been surprised. It's almost a given that a quirky videogame character will be followed by a slew fan art. We've seen this with Ivy, the Creaking, and the Warden. And we'll see it again when a new and strange creature is released.
