Palworld was not'snubbed by The Game Awards', says the community manager. 'Stop being over dramatic gamers.
It's that wonderful season of the year when Big Geoff’s Trailer Extravaganza begins to prepare to give out awards to the biggest games of the year. This also means that a lot people who have no stake in the race will get very upset if certain games don't receive a nod.
Palworld, which launched in January, is one of the notable omissions on the list this year. That's quite surprising. It was a huge, all-consuming, game that generated a lot of discussion and many hours of play. The Game Awards are not based on the number of players or the number of articles written. It's all about the vibes, people. Just a bunch saying "I love this game". Palworld didn't get a nomination this year because there weren’t enough people who liked the game.
Community manager John Buckley addressed the accusation on Twitter.
"No, I do not think Palworld has been snubbed," said he. "Twitter is such a banterless environment. Stop being so over dramatic gamers. "Not everything is a plot."
Twitter is definitely the worst.
It's only natural that fans want to see their tastes validated by corporate award shows. Is a video game really good if Geoff Keighley does not give it a pat on the back. I get it, snideness and all. I want to see the teams that make the games I enjoy recognized for their hard work and skill. When that doesn't occur, it's not an insult.
We all have games that we'd love to see nominated. Buckley's game of choice is Satisfactory. In my case, it's literally anything strategy game. Just pop one up. There are so many. It's about time we had a strategy category. But what? It's easy to get caught up in all this nonsense. We're all just dancing to Big Geoff.
