Palworld's response to Nintendo's suit while continuing to'strive' to create a video game that fans can be proud'
After Nintendo announced that it would file a lawsuit for infringement against Pocketpair, and its game Palworld the developer, who has been on the wrong side of a legal proceeding has responded.
Pocketpair said in a press release that it had received notice of the lawsuit and would begin the appropriate legal proceedings as well as investigations into the claims made of patent infringement. "At the moment, we do not know which patents we're accused of violating, and we haven't been notified about such details."
The Pokemon Company issued a statement less that a week after Palworld was launched in early access. It said it would "investigate any acts of infringement on intellectual property rights relating to the Pokemon" and take "appropriate measures to address them." It was assumed that they had not found anything.
Pocketpair did not seem to have any indication that Nintendo or The Pokemon Company were preparing to sue. Takuro Mizube, Palworld's creator, told GameFile a few months ago that the studio had heard "nothing" from Nintendo or The Pokemon Company. Pocketpair has to catch up quickly.
Pocketpair states, "It's a real shame that this lawsuit will force us to devote significant time to non-game development matters." "We will do everything we can to protect our fans and ensure that independent game developers aren't discouraged or hindered from pursuing creative ideas." We apologize to all of our fans and supporters if this news has caused any concern or discomfort.
Nintendo has no problem taking on smaller companies or anyone who cannot compete with this megacorporation. Gary Bowser was fined millions of dollars by Nintendo (plus he served jail time) in the past for his role as a pirate of Nintendo Switch and 3DS Games. This is a fine that he will never be able pay off. Garry's Mod had to remove 20 years worth of Nintendo-related content after a takedown order.
Pocketpair tries to reassure its fans that business will continue as usual despite the upcoming legal battle: "Palworld has been a surprise hit this year for both gamers and us. We were blown-away by the incredible response to the game, and have worked hard to make it better for our customers. We will continue to improve Palworld and create a game our fans can be happy with."
