The latest Sims 4 bug fixes prevents Sims from committing incest autonomously
I don't believe anyone meant incest when they said that they wanted Sims to live more interesting lives. EA did not intend it either, so yesterday's Sims 4 patch addressed the sudden tendency of Sims to pursue a romantic relationship with their relatives.
After the romance-focused Sims 4 Lovestruck extension and a base game upgrade last week, a few different bugs appeared. The two most notable were Sims being way to mean to each other without any reason and Sims developing illicit relationships with family members. The "Neighborhood Story" feature allowed Sims from outside your family to experience life milestones like marriages and pregnancies without your knowledge. Theoretically, this is a good thing if you're looking to create a more vibrant neighborhood around you without having to micromanage it.
It's not as nice if the neighbor of your Sim next door calls up to give them some friendly advice on pursuing their crush, and it turns out that their crush is their sister. Please, do not date your sister. This isn't the first time Sims have accidentally dated their family members.
The patch notes for The Sims 4 state that your Sims are now safe from witnessing forbidden crushes. Also, "Sims will no longer receive inappropriate calls from relatives" when using the Lovestruck expansion. This hotfix was applied to consoles and PC players on Friday.
By the way, if you haven't played with Neighborhood Stories before, you can find it in the "Manage Households", menu by clicking the diverging arrows icon and enable the autonomous changes that you want to be able to make for other Sim families. The "romance" toggle is now safe to enable.
If you've been avoiding downloading the latest update to your EA game app because of new bugs in the base game that EA recently announced they would be fixing, this is your sign that those that are the most problematic have been addressed.
